The Taliban have now captured power in Kabul. Now the Afghan residents are extremely desperate, many of them are trying to also flee from Afghan's beleaguered capital. There is an exodus that is presently underway in Kabul and amidst all of this chaos and mayhem at the airport. At least about five people have been killed. At this point of time, the reason as to how they may have died "was it gunshots?" or "was it because of a stampede?" still to be ascertained. The American army that is now in control of the Kabul International Airport resorted to firing gunshots in the air, which resulted in more panic and more chaos on the tarmac.

The Kaza International Airport authorities have announced the suspension of all commercial flights. The closure of Kabul air space also means that Indian flights will not be able to operate now. Through the statement, the airport authorities have called on the people to avoid crowding at the airport. The thousands of Afghans have crowded on to the international airport in Kabul with a hope that they could perhaps catch a flight out of the country. Also there were reports of some scuffles that broke out between the people who were at the airport earlier in the day who were unable to get into a plane.

Urging the Taliban to allow Afghans and other nationals to leave the country, more than 60 nations have issued a joint statement saying that "Afghans and international citizens who want to leave Afghanistan must be allowed to depart." But the U.S State Department has also added that airports and border crossings must remain open. It is also added that those in positions of power and authority across Afghanistan "bear the responsibility and accountability for the protection of human life and property and for the immediate restoration of security and civil order. The Afghan people deserve to live in safety security and dignity." This of course is a joint statement that's been signed by 60 countries including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Iitaly, Japan, South Korea, Qatar, and also the United Kingdom.
